Assam Engineering College hosts Shatranj 2025

Mayank Chakraborty champion in Assam Engineering College Chess Meet

International Master Mayank Chakraborty of South Point School Clinched the championship in the 9th edition of Shatranj, the Chess tournament organized by Assam Engineering College Chess club as part of its annual students festival Pyrokinesis. Mayank was the top seed of the tournament and scored 8.5 points out of possible 9 to clinch the championship. Soram Rahul Singh of Cachar was placed second while Tanmay Rajbongshi of Guwahati was placed third in the final ranking list. Altogether 65 players from across the state participated in this day long event. 

Snehabandhan Chess Academy was the title sponsor while Assam Chess Club was the technical partner of the tournament. Prizes worth seventh thousand rupees were distributed to the prize winners. 

The tournament was held with a total of 9 rounds under blitz time control in swiss league format under the supervision of International Arbiter Biswajit Bharadwaj as the Chief Arbiter. 

The closing Ceremony was attended by Professor Shasanka Sekhar Borkotoky,Dr Pranab Kalita, Dr Sujan Sinha and Biswajit Bharadwaj, International Arbiter and Chief Arbiter of the event among others.
